Welcome to the Methven Trotting Club.

Based at the foot of the Southern Alps, and about an hours drive from Christchurch, our grass track harness racing venue provides a memorable spectacle for all. Our LOCATION MAP on the menu shows how to get to Methven.

Many people have heard about our meetings -if you are a visitor and want to be looked after, let us know.

Methven holds unique appeal as a destination that caters for all visitors - whether a passionate supporter of Harness Racing or visiting the region and enjoying activities such as snowboarding, jet boating, golf and fishing.

***Tony Herlihy to drive at Methven for his first time***

Methven is proud to be hosting leading North Island trainer and driver Tony Herlihy at our autumn meeting.

Herlihy was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) in the 2011 New Year's honours.The humble South Auckland horseman is New Zealand's most successful reinsman of all time and the sole member of the 3000-win club.

At all meetings we host buses for social groups looking for a great day out in the country. We have a bus service available and once at Methven, we'll find a spot for your group. For more details. Click here
